Joy Willow's "Natural Bridges"

As October rolls along and that busy Holiday Season looms before us, we’d like to remind everyone to pop into The George Post Gallery!  Currently our Washington Street window features the works of Doris Olsen, Harry Nakamoto and Shirley Wilson Rose. Our artists have taken care to provide a wide range of items that fit many tastes and budgets.  From the simple elegance of a Harry Nakamoto vessel to the bold gesture of a Joy Willow painting, The George Post offers ceramics, fiber arts, paintings, sculpture, etched glass, jewelry and photography.  In addition to original art, we also have a host of giclée prints and stationery.

Dana Morton's "Helping Hands"

One of our most adorable items is Dana Morton’s “Helping Hands.”  This is a wonderful gift for a teacher, an auntie, a grandma.  These precious ceramic pieces represent a small child’s hand, created as a part of Dana’s “Grandma’s Linens” series.  And they are ornaments–perfect for any Christmas tree!

The George Post Gallery is located at 48 S. Washington St. in downtown Sonora.  Our hours are Thursday through Monday from noon to 5pm.  The George Post Gallery is now participating in Sonora’s new Second Saturday Night Out for ART, along with the other 5 downtown art galleries!  What a great night to get out, have dinner and take in all of the amazing creative life of our little Sierra Foothill town.  The George Post will host live music on our November 13th opening.  Plus we stay open on special event nights in downtown Sonora….Like the upcoming Sonora Christmas Parade that takes place each year on the Friday night after Turkey Day!

If you’re planning a trip to Sonora and Tuolumne County, stop by the George Post Gallery!  We’ll love to meet you, chat and hopefully send you home with one of our Sierra Foothill art treasures…That’s the Real Gold of the Mother Lode!
