THE ARTS of Tuolumne County are a valuable resource that strengthen our lives and our sense of community.

The arts resources provide entertainment, enlightenment and objects of interest and beauty for homes, schools and businesses. And they contribute to the economy. The Central Sierra Arts Council is a primary resource for arts in the County.

We invite you to check-in with us regularly, not only to see how we’re doing, but to be our partner in carrying out the mission and vision of the arts in California and the Sierra foothills.

  • CSAC partners with The George Post Gallery is host to an artist cooperative. More than fifteen local artists show their work in the George Post Gallery including painters, photographers, ceramicists, glass artists and others.
  • CSAC coordinates Sonora’s new Second Saturday NIGHT OUT for the ARTS!  A night when all the downtown galleries are open for an evening of fun.
  • ARTS-Reach to Schools: Arts Reach to Schools was founded in 1989 and administers a wide variety of programs in dance, theatre, music and the visual arts that go out into the elementary and high schools of Tuoloumne County and surrounding areas. This popular program receives valued support from the Sonora Area Foundation and the California Arts Council.
  • Artists-In-Schools Program: Begun in 2008, this program brings professional artists into area schools for in-depth residency programs and on-going artist contact for our local area students.
  • Summer ARTS Camp: Founded in 2003, this week-long day camp partners with Columbia State Historic Park to provide a vibrant week of arts activities for children, ages 7-12.
  • Poetry Out Loud: Begun in 2007, this national program, done in cooperation with The Poetry Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, brings the strong voice of poetry to high school students across the nation and next door.
  • ART Partner Opportunities for fledgling arts groups.  CSAC can work with you to provide the fiscal support of our 501c3.  By working under CSAC’s nonprofit umbrella, your new group can begin to take form and make an impact on our arts community.
